Back in the early 70s, God I am old, I worked for a security company as a patrol officer. I forget the name of the bar but it was in Olathe (KS) and near the Olathe Naval Air Station. I had to go into the bar at about 2 AM and clear everyone out.
The bar always had a lot of people from the military base. I did not look forward to closing a bar filled with marines but it was my job. I can remember a few young USMC men saying they were not going to leave. I was in my 30s. I think any one of those 18 year old marines could have kicked my ass. I just told them it was my job and they were done drinking for the night. If they got up from their chair I just turned the chair over and put it on their table.
I made it without getting into a fight. But I was glad when I moved to a different job.
I wonder if that is the bar where the Indian man was killed the other day. Srinivas Kuchibhotla, 32, was shot at a bar in Olathe. It was a hate crime.

The shooter is reported to have said “Get out of my country.”
