Don’t Dump or Flush

DON’T DUMP OR FLUSH!

Fort Worth is conducting a pilot program to increase opportunities for residents to safely and conveniently dispose of unused, unwanted and expired drugs. In addition to the twice-a-year Drug Take Back Days, the City of Fort Worth Solid Waste Services Division is currently distributing a total of 1,000 drug take back envelopes.

One postage paid envelope will be provided per household upon request while supplies last. Residents can call 817-392-1234 or email 1234@FortWorthTexas.Govto request an envelope, which will be mailed to them.

To use the envelope, simply place unwanted over-the-counter and/or prescription drugs in the envelope and drop the envelope in a USPS mailbox. Drugs will then be mailed to Sharps Compliance, where they will be safely and properly destroyed through incineration.

The medication mail-back envelopes are 8 by 11 inches and are only designed for small quantities of medications. To save space, medications may be removed from their containers and placed directly in a zippered plastic bag then into the envelope. For the destruction of larger quantities of medication, residents should consider participating in a semiannual Drug Take Back Day or visit one of the drug take back kiosks currently in the area.

The next Drug Take Back Day is Saturday, April 29 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at seven local Walgreen locations.
