I live in an apartment complex in Fort Worth. I been very happy here. The people in the office do a good job.
A young black couple and a couple of toddlers lived in the apartment upstairs until yesterday. Because the maintenance man yesterday was tossing their stuff into the trash!
It was a sofa, bed and a lot of toddler stuff … I do not think the people moved anything out .. I guess they must have taken a few items.
This is not the first time I have seen people tossed out like this .. in fact the people before these people had the same thing happen ..except no kids.
I am not sure how long the apartment people wait before they toss their stuff into the trash. I suspect not long.
Over on Las Vegas Trail a couple of times, I was on the city bus, and I saw people’s stuff setting out at the curb. One time a person was setting with their stuff and I guess waiting for someone to pick them up and their was the apartment security guard standing and watching them.
I am a bleeding heart liberal so seeing something like the above is upsetting to me. On the other hand .. I pay my rent .. If other people don’t pay then I would have to pay more.
I have lived here since 02/08/2011. When Russ and I first moved in we lived in this building on the second floor. I forget when we moved down on the ground floor. But for a long time I never heard a sound from upstairs. Long time before I saw the young woman that lived up there. I never heard one sound from up there. The people after her seem to make a lot of loud noises. These apartments are build very well. So I am not sure what people do up there. It sounds like they are building stuff or jumping up and down.
I am glad I do not live upstairs now. It would be hard for me to get up the stairs. And carrying something up would be very hard.
It is now January 1st of 2017. The Fort Worth Fire Department and others have asked the people of Fort Worth not to fire guns into the air.
But has sounded like a war zone here tonight. It is 7 minutes after midnight and guns are still be fired.
I hope none of those rounds hit anyone.
Wow 9 shots very fast at 0009. Sounds like it came from Las Vegas Trail.
Just to keep this honest let me say I have never been in a war zone except when I was married!
There is an interesting article on MSN. It is The 5 best-selling handguns in America all have 1 thing in common.
If you are a red blooded American male you will check out the report right?
But we are looking for a gun that is “compact, lightweight, and accurate.” Yes so we can conceal it. I wonder if safety should be one of the things we are looking for?
In the article the author says that the Rugar LCP is number one! I have never owned a Rugar and never heard of the LCP.
Number two is a tie and it is the Glock G19 and the Smith & Wesson M&P Shield. I have owned a lot of S&W handguns. I am one of those people that said they would never carry a Glock when they first came out. It turned out that we were wrong. The Glock is a great weapon but I just can not admit that I was that wrong so have never owned one.
I carried S&W handguns daily for over 30 years. I did carry a Taurus for a few years.
I will let you read the article if you are interested.
One handgun I carried for years was the S&W 38-44 Outdoorsman. It was a 38 but on a 44 frame. A friend begged me for a long time to sell it to him and I did. I wish I had never sold it. I loved that handgun.
I do not own any guns at this time. I have not owned a gun since 2000.
Hilary got here Christmas Eve.
Darlene made turkey. We all had turkey and dressing and the extras. Hilary came with Lingonberries. She knows I like them. Lingonberries are wild natural berries. It is a Swedish delicacy. Next time you make a turkey replace the cranberry with Lingonberries. (Now Darlene does not care about cranberries and so she did not care for the Lingonberries. )
Update: I just talked to Darlene on the telephone and she said that she liked the Lingoberries and said it was very good.
Christmas Dinner 2016
You can get Lingonberries at Walmart by the way. You can get 14.3 oz for $4.51 and you can get 11 pounds of it from Amazon for $78.00 or you can get a smaller amount from Amazon.
Hilary showed up just as I was making the food for the two cats. So I had the patio door open and the cats were in the living room. Hilary was so happy to see that I was letting them in and feeding them.
Hilary’s husband had her laptop repaired in Sweden and sent it here for her. So she was happy to get it back and working. She had a lot of images on it. I been trying to talk Hilary into using the cloud but she is a hard sell.
Hilary came with gifts for us all.
She stayed the night and then headed back to Russell’s apartment to spend Christmas day with her son. She is going to be staying there until she goes back to Sweden.
Darlene talked to Hilary on the telephone. Hilary and Russ both been sick. Russ has still been going to work. Everyone at work is sick.
The only day off Russ is going to have is Christmas day so he does not want to come out here for Christmas Eve or Christmas day. Hilary is going to try and make it over here for Christmas Eve.
I do not think we will be seeing much of Russ. He has his own apartment now and an Uber here cost $40.00 and that is just one way. So to visit us and go back home would cost him $80.00 and he would never pay that sort of money.
Hilary has been ordering from Amazon PrimeNow.Com and she likes the service. I have only ordered one time. I will be ordering a couple of times a month. I am going to stock up on Coke for one thing. Having them bring it to the door is great.
Well I tried LastPass with Microsoft Edge and now it works for me. So I can start using Microsoft Edge. Back a month or two ago they said it was working but it would not work for me. I installed it today and it is working now. I am using Microsoft Edge to write this blog post.
Christmas is going to be here soon. I can not believe that 2016 is almost over. It will be 2017 in a few days.
Well 2016 is was bad year. I will be glad when 2016 is gone.
The wind blows like hell here in west Texas often. Yesterday it was cold and the wind was blowing hard. I heard it blowing extra hard and I was thinking this is not going to be good … bang off went the power.
I live in an apartment in west Fort Worth. An all electric apartment. The power went off at 4:15 PM. It did not come back on until 10:15 PM. OK I did not go crazy because of no porn Internet. It was the cold that was my worry … I spent years working out in bitter cold … But now at 75 years of age .. I just do not do well in cold weather.
It got down to 69 degrees at 7 PM. I know a lot of people keep their homes at 69 degrees. I do not.
At 10 PM it was 63 degrees.
The power came back on at 10:15 PM. Thank God.
I had about all the cold I could take.
I have a APC BGE70 Backup-UPS. This was the first real test of it. It is a home network UPS unit. It worked great. My networking hardware was plugged into it. So the cable modem, router and Echo Dot still had power. I think it lasted for an hour or two. I should have written down the times on it. But after an hour of no power I could still talk to the Echo Dot.
I need a UPS for my computer. Well I have two computers so I need two USP units. I have one on my Amazon wish list and it is the CyberPower CP1000AVRLCD UPS. I am not sure if it is the best unit for me or not. It gets good reviews on Amazon.
My main, bedroom, computer was not happy to lose power. I got some errors messages for a bit after I got power back. But I think everything is working OK now.
Well back to the no power. This apartment is all electric. So when you lose power there is nothing you can do. You can not turn on a gas oven or anything.
The apartment does have a fireplace. But I, of course, did not have any logs. I also do not have any way to even light a fireplace. I do not smoke.
When I have some money I will see about ordering in some fireplace logs and whatever else a person needs. I have never used a fireplace.
I see I can get 10 pounds of wood products from Amazon PrimeNow for $22.54 and I will try and order the next time I place an order from PrimeNow. Any idea how long 10 pounds of fatwood will last me?
Warm now but back and neck hurting. Photo taken 12/18/2016.
About: I got my first computer in 1978. I set up a computer bulletin board system (BBS) in 1982. You had to dial in at 300 baud. A national magazine picked my BBS as one of the ten best sites. I was blogging before the word blog had been invented. People think the first blog was invented in 1995. They are wrong I was doing it in 1982.
When the rest of the world got around to inventing the world wide web I moved my BBS to the web. Yes, I been online for over 32 years.
You have found one of the very first online sites!
I was doing this before Google (1998), before YouTube (2005), Yahoo (1994) and all the rest of them.
You have found one of the fathers of all this that we all enjoy so much.
Welcome and enjoy and hang out with Jim Howard. He has been waiting for you.
One of the first online sites, one of the first blogs and one of the first webcam sites.
