Busy New Year: Dallas Police Make 16 DWI Arrests, Get 700 Gunfire Calls
The Dallas Morning News reports that Dallas police received more than 700 calls about random gunshots as residents rang in the new year.
The 711 gunfire calls occurred between 10 p.m. New Year’s Eve and 2 a.m. Jan. 1, with the majority coming between midnight and 2 a.m. Police also received 282 fireworks calls.
Police also arrested 16 people on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
Last year, police got more than 900 calls between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. about shots fired and fireworks.
